Conditions before Stem Cell Therapy for Cerebral Palsy

Mr. Yan was a 10-month-old boy from China that suffered from cerebral palsy and mental retardation. His grandmother had cerebral palsy history; his mother had suffered from cough and chest distress for two months during the pregnant period; his father was addicted to drink and smoking. Yan was diagnosed by mental retardation with 60 points according to the standard neuropsychological scale for children aged 0~6 in the Capital Children’s Research Institute, Beijing, China.

Yan was premature born with the weight of 1.9KG. He looked dull without any other expression on his face. The voice of his crying was abnormal, too. His vital signs were stable and the muscle strength of four limbs was acceptable. However, he was unable to sit stably and crawl prior to his admission.

Treatment and Procedure:

1. Stem Cell Therapy: 4 Intravenous Injections
2. TCM Therapy: Moxibustion and Massage
3. Rehabilitation Therapy: focus on recovery of brain function and development of language function.

Conditions after Stem Cell Therapy for Cerebral Palsy

The treatment course last for 4 months with 2 treatment cycles. After the first session, Yan had more expressions on his face and he would smile sometimes. He could sit stably and crawl for a few meters. When the second session of treatment finished, Yan was able to stand up and walk independently. Furthermore, he was able to speak some words clearly. He was much cleverer compared with before.
